Alv Erlingsson Trophy
The Alv Erlingsson Trophy is awarded annually to the member of the Giles family (broadly defined) who excels in competitive summer activities at Rock Lake Court, L'Amable. The first such award was made in 2016.
At the discretion of the adjudication panel, the Trophy may be awarded jointly in any year. The activities for which the Trophy is awarded may vary from year to year, and innovative new activities are actively encouraged.
The Trophy is named in honour of the Norwegian pirate, Alv Erlingsson, who was put to death in 1290. He is sometimes referred to as "The last of the Vikings".
The Alv Erlingsson Trophy features a mounted ceramic jug in the form of a pirate, with a blue Norwegian parrot on his shoulder. Whether the parrot is alive or sleeping is debatable. However, the adjudication panel will not enter into any correspondence relating to this matter.
