"Eddie the Eagle" Trophy

About the Trophy

The "Eddie the Eagle" Trophy is awarded annually to the member of the Giles family (broadly defined) who excels in competitive winter activities at Rock Lake Court, L'Amable. The first such award was made for the 2016-2017 winter season.

At the discretion of the adjudication panel, the Trophy may be awarded jointly in any year. The activities for which the Trophy is awarded may vary from year to year, and innovative new activities are actively encouraged.

The Trophy is named in honour of Michael ("Eddie the Eagle") Edwards, a British skier who, in 1988 (at the Calgary Winter Olympic Games), became the first competitor since 1928 to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping. He finished in last place in both the 70 m. and 90 m. events.

You could say, he was one of the greatest losers of all time!

If "Eddie the Eagle" had been able to collaborate with Eddie Bauer, this is the trophy that they would have come up with!

Congratulations to Chris & Carol

Special thanks to Greg and Frank Schuerheck for their dedicated skating rink "grooming" - i.e., shoveling insane amounts of snow into a 5-foot "wall" that put Games of Thrones to shame!
