Summer 2019 Announcement!

We're well into summer here at the lake. The water temperature is sitting pretty steady at 26 degrees. Just a "heads up" that Matt and Ashley have booked a visit - they arrive on Saturday 10 August for a week. So - you had all better get into training. And this year you have Joey to contend with as an extra member of the family!

"Eddie the Eagle" Award, 2018-2019

Spring is Sprung!

Hi everyone! Well, the ice finally  cleared off the lake about a week ago - yes, truly! It was a long winter. However, the dock went out on the lake yesterday, and I even managed to stay dry, thanks to my new neoprene chest waders! Anyway, with winter now behind us, it's time for the award of the " Eddie the Eagle Trophy " for the 2018-2019 season. An announcement is imminent. Don't touch that dial!!

November Update

"Red" has suggested that we add relay snow shoveling as an event for the Winter Trophy: The Adjudicators think that this would be a fine idea: (17 November, 2018)

Award of the 2018 Alv Erlingsson Trophy

The adjudicating panel for the Alv Erlingsson Trophy is pleased to announce that the co-winners for 2018 are Sophie Hesling and Emma Giles. The citation for the award can be found near the bottom of this page . Congratulation to the recipients! The panel was most impressed by the energy and skill-levels of all of the participants, over a wide range of sports. The addition of kubb to our selection of competitive events was especially noteworthy. (Thanks, again, Ashley!) The 2018 plaque been added to the trophy: Some pictures from the 2018 summer events have been posted here . Contributions of additional photos would be appreciated so that these can be added over the coming days. A big "thank you" to everyone for making it such a great summer!

The Summer Games are Drawing to a Close

We're not quite  done yet, but the 2018 Summer Games are definitely winding down. And what a summer it's been so far! On a positive note, a record number of events have been included.  Unfortunately (and as usual), the adjudicators have observed a small number of rather dodgy attempts to garner points in questionable ways. To whit: competitive s'mores eating; overly exuberant shopping at the Quinte Mall; & unduly aggressive Tinder trolling! However, the points will be tallied shortly, and pictures will be posted on this blog. In the next few day you can expect to see the Grand Announcement about the winner(s) of the Alv Erlingsson Trophy for the summer of 2018! Don't touch that dial!

What Happens at the Lake..........

You know the rest of that expression...... Word around the lake this year is that there has been skinny dipping at #58! It could be just a rumour. On the other hand, it could be a brazen attempt to extend the opportunity for gathering points! No names will be revealed, of course. As always, the adjudicators' collective lips are tightly sealed!
